In today’s blog post we take a break from our university-themed posts and instead look at how you can ensure that your child makes the most out of our private tuition. If you want to find out more or chat to some of our tutors then feel free to get in touch, we love hearing from parents and students alike!

Our biggest tip for getting the most out of your tutor is to ask them questions! Highlight to your tutor which areas of the syllabus you’re struggling with so that in the lessons they can focus on that. Your tutor is here for you to ask questions, and will always encourage you, so no matter how silly you may think that your question is, ask it! This also helps the tutor to understand how you are thinking about the material and they may be able to explain things differently which will help you to understand better.

Following on from this, in general, communication is key! If your tutor is going to fast/slow then just let them know and they can adjust the lessons accordingly. Tell them what you are hoping to achieve so they can develop a tailored plan which will ensure that you reach your goals as quickly as possible. Similarly, if you are feeling overwhelmed with exam stress, too much homework or anything like that then just let us know, we can always adjust our classes to fit in with your schedule. They can also provide additional resources for you and match the teaching to your syllabus.

Ensure that you have a quiet learning space and are on time to lessons. Don’t be afraid to consider online tuition if this fits into your timetable better. The key to success is consistency, so ensure that you go to every lesson and focus throughout, asking questions and interacting with your tutor. Try to take on board their feedback and if you’re not sure exactly how you can improve then ask your tutor for clarification.

Remember, we are always here to help so let us know what your child’s learning needs are and we will do our best to accommodate them and set them up for success.
