The most important aspect of writing essays is planning your work. Now that you have finished all your research and reading, the next step is to list out your main ideas and decide which points you are going to include in your writing.

From then on, you need to separate your ideas and bullet point the main arguments you are going to bring up in the introduction, main body, and conclusion. As well as this, note down the quotes you will include from the text and give a detailed analysis on how it relates to your argument. This will help because you can constantly refer to your plan, instead of thinking of up your ideas as you go along.

Your main objective of writing an argument should be to develop opposing views to your ideas and responding to them. The examiner will be trying to attack your essay and confront your points. Therefore, it is best to address these challenges, instead of sweeping it under the rug. Writing a concise and analytical essay that covers every single point, is vital in receiving top marks for your work.

Now here’s the hard part: writing the essay. Typically when people start their essays, they write the introduction first before starting onto the main body. However, it is best to start writing the main points of your argument first because sometimes students change their mind on what they want to include in their work. One top tip is to copy and paste your work into a text-to-speech reader. A computer-generated voice will be reading your work out loud. In doing so, it is easier to spot grammatical mistakes rather than read it in your head. Therefore, this tip can help you correct your mistakes, instead of skipping over it.

Now it is crucial to note, do not plagiarise your work. In doing so, the marker will find out and cheating does not improve your essay writing technique for the future, especially during exams. Not to mention, avoid starting your assignment one day before the deadline, because you will not write to the best ability and end up padding your work.
